MORRISANIA CROSSING

LOCATION: New York, NY

PROGRAM: Affordable Housing, Retail, Community Garden

TOTAL AREA: 560,000 SF

CLIENT: The Community Builders

As lead Passive House Architects for this proposal, we were also responsible for shaping the site in relation to solar and urban conditions.

We proposed a site plan that brought the buildings to the South down low, pushing the massing to the North of the site and allowing the sun to penetrate the community gardens at the heart of the block. From here, a series of large-scale ‘punctures’ created dramatic connections to the street, engaging the larger community. Building on common detailing techniques, our team developed a series of economical Passive House details for this project, providing constructability and cost effectiveness.
