Kevin Atkinson, CPHC
Architect
Kevin is a licensed Architect and Certified Passive House Designer from Portland, Connecticut. A graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans, he saw first hand how architecture and design can respond to the climate crisis and how cities with a rich architectural tradition build community through design. His past work in New York runs the gamut from restaurants to concert venues to multifamily housing, and he looks forward to joining PCA in shaping the future of New York City through architecture.
FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD IN NYC
Red Hook - It manages to feel like a small town and still has that industrial feel that other parts of the Brooklyn waterfront have lost.
FIVE THINGS
Volleyball, fresh tomatoes, Survivor, my apartment's 1940s gas stove, Portuguese.
IF I COULD COLLABORATE WITH ANY ARCHITECT, LIVING OR HISTORICAL, IT’D BE
Peter Zumthor - His work is atmospheric and minimal, and his focus on craft, materiality, and site results in incredibly dramatic yet understated buildings.
IF I COULD DESIGN ANY PROJECT, IT WOULD BE
A nature Center somewhere remote and beautiful, using only materials from the site.
MY GO-TO MUSIC TO GET IN THE ZONE IS
Blood Orange.
THE SUSTAINABLE TECH/METHOD THAT EXCITES ME MOST IS
Sustainable Materials.
